Climb Outta Your Fitness Slump Today
Trying to climb outta that fitness slump, well your not alone!! We have all experienced the “slump” due to lack of drive, motivation, busy schedule and so on. You can sit around and make up excuses after excuses but the only way you are going to get out of the “slump” is if you do something NOW. Anything! Go for a walk, jump rope, run, do some jumping jacks, what ever floats your boat. I do advise however to engage in activity that interests you. If you hate to run and decide you need to run to get fit you are doomed for failure. You love to swim, perfect, swimming is great exercise so start swimming.
Start Off Small
Ease into your fitness routine, it can be very overwhelming if you are just getting started and decide to workout for one hour 6 days a week. That is setting yourself up for failure. Start out by 30 minutes 3 days a week and gradually build your way up to 6 days a week. Doing some sort of exercise at least 30 minutes each and every day is a great way to start off your day. You will feel strong and healthy, which makes you happy. So try it! Get up and start moving today! There will be those days that you just aren’t feeling it, do something more leisurely like going for a walk, then you still feel great about yourself for fitting in that bit of exercise your body and mind needs.
Add A Little Extra
Try adding in little extra “activities” that don’t seem like much like playing with your kids. Instead of playing a board game, play kick ball or tag. Take the stairs not the elevator. Park out in the boondocks when going to the store. Run from room to room when cleaning your house. Just adding that little extra each day adds up to burning off more calories.
Stay Positive
In anything that you do, do it with a smile. Always stay positive it makes life less complex. Even if you really don’t feel like doing your 30 minutes of exercise, muster through half that, getting at least 15 minutes will make you feel much more accomplished than if you skipped your workout all together. If your short on time due to a hectic day squeeze in what you can and just know that you tried and tomorrow is a new day!
Add A Little More
Eventually work your way up to 5-7 days a week of some type of exercise. Your body and mind will thank you for it. Mix it up and try new workouts. You never know, you might like it! Add a friend or friends to your workout routine, it’s great for bonding and catching up.
