How to implement a fitness routine that fits you & your schedule.
First, you need to decide what type of exercise it is that you actually enjoy doing. Please don’t say none!
It is important that you like swimming or running if you decide that is what you are going to do. If you don’t enjoy your workout chances are your fitness routine is not going to last long or may be sporadic. There are so many options out there, if you are unsure, it is a good idea to join a gym and experience all it has to offer. Try all the equipment, take all the classes, if you enjoy it all, perfect, you should never get bored if your constantly switching it up (neither will your muscles). So, speaking of switching it up, that is also important so you don’t suffer from boredom from your newly implemented fitness routine. Keep it fun and lively! Also when you can try scheduling workouts with friends. Not only do you get bonding time, your workout goes by twice as fast. I enjoy running and I enjoy it much more when I am running with my beloved running partner.
The hardest part is of course, sticking with it. Another benefit of having a workout buddy is you can push each other along. And your less likely to skip out on a workout date than if you were working out alone.
Secondly, you need to establish what time of day you are most likely to workout and of course when you can fit it in to your busy schedule. Juggling, work, kids, homework, extracurriculars, ect., can be extremely draining so it is my suggestion to wake up a little earlier in the morning and get your fitness routine done and out of the way for the day. Then you have the rest of the day to tackle work and family life.
Lastly, remember to wear a smile and be happy! Setting the tone first thing in the morning always helps and it’s easy to carry through the day knowing you feel good about yourself.
