Do you get enough sleep?

Don’t feel like getting out of bed due to lack of sleep

Are you getting the sleep that your body needs to function top notch? If not, or if your not sure, read on.

Does your body really need at least 7 hours of sleep every night? Simply put, yes! Sleep is just as essential as food and water. When your body doesn’t have adequate amounts of water and food, you feel sluggish, same as being sleep deprived, you have less energy, your mood level decreases and you have less brain power. People also tend to make bad food choices picking comfort food over health food.

Shut down your electronic devices

Make sure to shut down all electronic devices at least one hour before bedtime. If you must or you just can’t resist put your phone in night mode or try a pair of blue light blocking glasses.

Cut the caffeine off for the day

Cut the caffeine no later than 2:00 p.m. The lasting affects of caffeine can disturb your sleep.

A comfy mattress and pillow is a must.  Adding natural sources of melatonin, magnesium and selenium can help you get restful slumber. Nuts, especially peanuts and pistachios are helpful as is organic tart cherry juice which also helps with muscle recovery. Just a small glass in the evening is needed and a handful of nuts each day.

Take time to Relax

Read your child a bedtime story, that will help you and your child relax before bedtime.  Keep a note pad on your nightstand next to your bed and write down a list of things you need to do the following day or for the week, that way you don’t wake up in the middle of the night worried you are going to forget to order your child’s birthday cake for her upcoming party. Reading something relaxing before bed helps rest your mind and helps you fall asleep faster.

When you are well rested it shows. You are more productive with your daily activities and they don’t drain you. Your workout comes with ease and you may even work a little harder. Your mood is improved making you happier and more pleasant to be around. Be scheduled by going to bed around the same time every night and waking up at the same time every morning. So, get to sleep and start fresh!
